Minister says no changes expected in Russian pension system
MOSCOW, Aug 2 (PRIME) -- The Russian government plans no changes in the current pension system, it only is discussing issues connected with the accumulative part of pensions, Labor and Social Protection Minister Maxim Topilin said Tuesday at a meeting of the Civic Chamber.
“The pension reform was held in 2013, and a new pension formula, new tariffs and new regulations for pension accounting are in force from January 1, 2015…No one is talking about a new pension reform, either within a budget process or in any other processes. Yes, we are discussing an element connected with the accumulative pension, but it is only part of the pension system,” he said.
The accumulative part of pension savings have been used to pay pensions to the current retirees since 2014.
The government may also discuss a proposal to abolish increments to pensions of working pensioners with a further recalculation of the pension payments. “Such a topic may exist. It should be discussed and checked. We assume that there is a right, that a person has the right to use one or another structure,” Topilin said.
He added that it is best to not change anything in the current pension system as it is working.
